Clip of the day: Brazilian Deaf Trans Woman Singing Whitney Houstons “I Will Always Love You”

Ok now I dont want to come off as mean, or degrading, or not “validating her existence” or whatever. But, like, what are we doing here. Who said this was a good idea? Why? We live in a society. And listen I get it they were trying to do something nice. Can we just be honest with ourselves though? Of course it would be great if everyone treated this like a “Make a Wish”, but maybe the world just will never be like that. Maybe people are always going to laugh at stuff like this, and maybe they should. Listen I know it sucks that we all wont be able to do what we want to do, in this case be a professional singer. But can we please acknowledge that its a little silly to tell this person that people are going to love this and shes so brave for doing this? She literally is brave because you have to know that shes knows what the backlash would be, but man.

Its hard to have a take on this because you know that the politically correct thing to say is shes so brave and beautiful. But also lets be real. Im never going to be a professional athlete and I would never expect people to let me do one of those fake touchdown runs where the defense pretends to try while I walk into the endzone. I understand the intention and I understand that its a nice thing to do, but also isnt it a little bit of pandering? Do people with disabilities ever just say “hey man I get it, im different, but I just want to be treated like everyone else”? Thats what I personally would want. But to each their own.
