2020 Fantasy Football Rankings: Running Backs

One of the most important positions in Fantasy Football, Running Back. Doing well at this position will make or break your team. Stock up on them early and often because they’re like girls at a bar, at the end of the day its a numbers game. The more shots you take the better chance you have a landing a stud.

Again this is based off a PPR 12 team draft.

Round 1

1) Christian McCaffrey- This is an easy one. Coming off one of the greatest seasons of all time with 1000+ rushing yards, 1000+ receiving yards, and 100+ catches. Hes got a better QB this year as well so don’t be cute here.

2) Zeke Elliot- I know craziness already in my rankings. I have Zeke ahead of Saquon unlike most people. Cant say this is a homer pick because I hate the Cowboys and I hate Ohio State, but hard to argue with the leagues best offensive line. Throw in the leagues best receiving core and its hard to stack the box against him. People think he doesn’t get as many targets but had 2 more catches then Saquon last year.

3) Saquon Barkley- Not a huge deal if you take Saquon at two. Really splitting hairs. Dudes a freak and will be one of the best players in the league no matter what.

4) Alvin Kamara- Struggled with some injury issues last year. This year is a contract year though. I think the Saints lean on Kamara more then they have in the past, and I think he barely edges out Dalvin Cook.

5) Dalvin Cook- A big concern of mine with Cook is his offensive line and his injury history. The only reason hes worth taking over Derrick Henry is he gets more looks in the receiving game. Hes also another running back in a contract year.

6) Derrick Henry- Coming off a league rushing title and leading the league in rushing touchdowns. The whole Titans offense is built around him. I don’t like RBs that carry the ball 300+ times a season, but at a solid 260 pounds if anyone can handle it, Henry can.

Round 2

7) Clyde Edwards Helaire- Reports out of Chiefs camp are that CEH is the real deal. I think if youre picking at the end of the first hes probably not a bad pick. There isnt a lot of depth around him and he is on the best offense in the league. I think hes looking at around 1000 rushing yards and 70-80 receptions.

8) Josh Jacobs- This guy is rising fast in mock drafts. The Raiders look like theryre going to be much improved on offense. Jacobs was a top 20 fantasy running back last year in 13 games. This year he will be a bigger focus in the passing game and if he stays healthy is going to have a breakout year.

9) Nick Chubb- Almost 1500 rushing yards last year in his first year as “the guy” in Cleveland. The Browns are also looking at taking a step forward on offense this year and should be running a lot of two TE sets. The only reason I put Jacobs ahead of Chubb here is the Kareem Hunt factor. Hunt is a Pro Bowl player and they will be sharing carries.

10) Aaron Jones- Last year second highest scoring RB in fantasy. Hes still got Rodgers running the show and the lack of a second receiving option could mean a larger role for Jones. He is in a contract year but the Packers took a RB in the second round? Still confused on the thought process there if they plan on keeping Jones. The thing with AJ Dillon is hes a thumper. A Derrick Henry type if you will so I think hes going to take the goal line carries away from Jones.

11) Miles Sanders- The Eagles didn’t start leaning on Sanders until around week 12 and he finished the year ranked 15 in fantasy points among RBs. Thats a good sign for this year since Howard is out of town and they really don’t have any depth behind Sanders. Now he is having injury issues in camp right now but if the Eagles handle it correctly he should be good for week 1.

12) Kenyan Drake- Drake has been going pretty high in a lot of drafts and had a few good showings last year. So did Chase Edmonds who Kliff Kingsbury is calling a number one back in camp. I think this is more of a running back by committee then people think its going to be, but Drake is still going to be the go to guy. To me this is a boom or bust pick.

Round 3

13) Joe Mixon- I am not high on Bengals players this year. They leaned heavily on Mixon last year and he was very hit and miss. Hopefully Burrow opens up the offense but the offensive line looks suspect at best.

14) Austin Ekeler- Not as high on Ekeler as a lot of people this year, but he is going from Philip Rivers running the offense to Tyrod Taylor. Not only that but he has a poor offensive line and is going to be “the guy” without Melvin Gordon. So I have concerns on his durability this year too. He does have the potential to catch a lot of passes so another boom or bust guy.

Round 4

15) David Johnson

16) Leonard Fournette

17) Chris Carson

18) James Conner

19) Todd Gurley

Round 5

20) Le’Veon Bell

21) Johnathan Taylor

22) Ronald Jones

23) Raheem Mostert

24) DeAndre Swift

25) Philip Lindsay

26) Melvin Gordon

27) Mark Ingram

28) Devin Singletary

29) Kerryon Johnson

30) David Montgomery

31) Kareem Hunt

32) JK Dobbins

33) Zach Moss

Round 7

34) Cam Akers

35) Jordan Howard

36) Tevin Coleman

37) Matt Breida

38) Latavious Murray

39) James White

Round 8

40) Adrian Peterson

41) Marlon Mack

42) Darrell Henderson

43) Duke Johnson

Round 9+

44) Sony Michel

45) AJ Dillon

46) Justin Jackson

47) Alexander Mattison

48) Ke’Shawn Vaughn

49) Ito Smith

51) Jerick Mckinnon
