Sports Are Stupid Rant
So I have been seeing this take pop up more and more. This take that because you watch sports you are just some dumb monkey man that memorizes stats and where players went to college. Which for me is kind of true. I know a lot about sports. I know where a lot of guys went to college. Its mostly useless information. But guess what? I like it. I enjoy watching football. I love it when its March and college kids are playing their asses off to advance to the next round of the NCAA basketball tournament.
You know what else I know about? Movies, I know a lot about movies. I know about camera angles, and writing, and acting. What goes into special effects. What goes into finding locations of movies. You know what else I know a lot about? Music, I know listen to new albums every month. I check out new artists I find on TikTok all the time. You want to know what else I know a lot about? The Casey Anthony trial. I know every detail. I know fucking dates bro. I know where she was and what she said. I know about Zanny the Nanny and that her dad said Caylee had the smell of “sweet sweat” when she came in from playing outside. So, why cant I also know politics. Because I do.
Theres this thought that if you like one thing then thats who you are. What a dumb-dumb way of thinking about things. People whos main form of entertainment is politics can really be smug, pretentious, small brained assholes. They think that only what they think is right, they do whatever their party says, and they act as if their political parties are in fact sports teams. When in actuality they are not sports teams. They are lawmaking entities that control the government. The great thing about sports is that there is a winner and a loser. In politics there are just losers and its usually the people.
Politically obsessed people will just sit on their back porch smoking shitty cigars and drinking overpriced whiskey, while talking about… you guessed it, politics, with their next door neighbor or whoever finds them bearable to be around. The truth is, just like those people youre calling sheep for watching football, you too are doing nothing about it. You arent solving any issues. You arent making a difference. Youre just more cynical then the rest of us.
